Community Guidelines

Last updated: 2 July 2026

CrewAhead connects seafarers, shore professionals and maritime employers. Trust is essential to every profile, job posting, application and professional conversation on the platform.

These guidelines explain the standards expected from everyone using CrewAhead. They are designed to support honest representation, respectful communication, safer recruitment and responsible use of maritime career information.

By using CrewAhead, you agree to engage professionally and to respect the rights, privacy and safety of other members of the maritime community.

Quick principles

  • Be truthful about identity, experience and qualifications
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally
  • Use CrewAhead only for genuine maritime career and recruitment purposes
  • Protect personal, professional and company information
  • Report suspicious, unsafe or abusive behaviour
  • Respect platform decisions intended to protect the community

Represent your maritime experience accurately

Profiles, applications and job postings must reflect genuine and current information.

Members must not knowingly misrepresent:

  • identity or contact details;
  • rank, sea service or vessel experience;
  • certifications, licences or endorsements;
  • education, training or professional memberships;
  • employment history or availability;
  • company identity, approval status or recruitment authority;
  • job terms, vessel details, salary or joining conditions.

Uploaded documents must belong to the person or organisation presenting them and must not be altered, forged or used without permission.

CrewAhead may request clarification or supporting information when profile, document or job-posting details appear incomplete or inconsistent.

Do not state or imply that CrewAhead has independently certified a person, company or document unless the platform explicitly shows a verified status.

Treat every member of the maritime community with respect

CrewAhead does not tolerate harassment, intimidation, threats, abusive language or repeated unwanted contact.

Members must not discriminate against or demean others on the basis of:

  • nationality;
  • ethnicity;
  • race;
  • religion;
  • gender;
  • age;
  • disability;
  • rank;
  • vessel background;
  • employment status;
  • any other protected or personal characteristic.

Professional disagreement is allowed. Personal abuse is not.

Communication should remain relevant to the job, application, career discussion or professional relationship involved.

Use CrewAhead for genuine maritime career and recruitment activity

CrewAhead messaging, profiles, applications and employer tools must be used for legitimate professional purposes.

The following are not permitted:

  • spam or mass unsolicited messages;
  • irrelevant sales promotion;
  • misleading job offers;
  • false interview invitations;
  • attempts to move users into suspicious payment or recruitment arrangements;
  • repeated contact after a user has declined or stopped responding;
  • use of CrewAhead data to build unauthorised marketing lists;
  • automated scraping or collection of member information;
  • impersonation of a seafarer, employer, recruiter or CrewAhead representative.

Members should communicate clearly about the reason for contact and avoid pressuring others into immediate decisions.

Protect personal and confidential information

Do not publish, forward, download or share another member’s personal information, profile, documents or communications without a legitimate professional reason and appropriate permission.

Sensitive information may include:

  • passport and identity details;
  • certificates and medical records;
  • contact information;
  • salary information;
  • employment documents;
  • vessel or company information;
  • private messages;
  • application details.

Employers and recruiters should access candidate information only for genuine recruitment, assessment, mobilisation or employment purposes.

Members must not use information obtained through CrewAhead to harass, discriminate against, exploit or publicly expose another person.

Keep recruitment safe and transparent

CrewAhead must not be used to facilitate fraud, exploitation, illegal activity or unsafe recruitment practices.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • requesting payment in exchange for a guaranteed job or interview;
  • collecting money through a false recruitment or placement scheme;
  • requesting unnecessary financial credentials or passwords;
  • distributing malicious links, files or software;
  • arranging work that knowingly violates applicable maritime, labour, immigration or safety requirements;
  • coercing a candidate to surrender original documents without a lawful and clearly explained reason;
  • concealing material job conditions;
  • using the platform to traffic, exploit or endanger another person;
  • attempting to bypass platform safeguards for fraudulent purposes.

A request for payment, private financial information or urgent transfer of money should be treated with caution and reported promptly.

Do not claim that CrewAhead guarantees employment, candidate suitability, regulatory compliance or legal eligibility.

Employers and recruiters carry additional responsibilities

Employer representatives must ensure that company information and recruitment authority are accurate.

Job postings should clearly describe, where applicable:

  • role or rank;
  • vessel or shore-work context;
  • required qualifications;
  • experience expectations;
  • contract type;
  • location or trading area;
  • joining expectations;
  • any material employment conditions.

Employers must not post roles that do not exist, use applications for unrelated purposes or collect candidate information without a genuine recruitment need.

Recruitment communication should be timely, professional and clear. Candidates should not be deliberately misled about their application status, interview stage or offer.

Any statutory, flag-state, MLC, RPSL, immigration, medical or employment obligations remain the responsibility of the relevant employer, recruiter, seafarer and competent authorities.

CrewAhead supports recruitment activity but does not replace professional, legal or regulatory assessment.

Report concerns instead of escalating them

If you experience or witness behaviour that may violate these guidelines, report it rather than retaliating or responding abusively.

Use:

When reporting an issue, provide enough information to help CrewAhead review it, such as:

  • the account or company involved;
  • the job posting or application concerned;
  • relevant dates;
  • screenshots or message details;
  • a short description of what happened.

Do not publish accusations or another member’s private information publicly while the matter is being reviewed.
