CV & Profile Sharing Consent

Last updated: 2 July 2026

CrewAhead is designed to help seafarers, shore professionals and maritime employers connect. This page explains how your professional profile and documents may be shared, what choices you have, and how you can change those choices at any time.

Your profile, your choice

Your profile belongs to you. You decide what information to include, and you decide whether your profile can be discovered by employers searching the platform.

A more complete profile generally helps CrewAhead suggest better-matched opportunities and helps employers understand your experience. However, you are never required to disclose more than you are comfortable with.

Visibility options

Your seafarer or shore profile has a single visibility switch: Make Profile Visible to Employers. You can change this setting at any time from your profile edit page.

  • Visible to employers — Your profile may appear in employer candidate search and browsing, and employers may view the information you have chosen to include.
  • Not visible to employers— Your profile is hidden from employer search and candidate browsing. Your profile remains available to you, but employers will not find it through CrewAhead's discovery tools.

Even when your profile is not discoverable, applying to a specific job still allows the employer responsible for that vacancy to see the information needed to consider your application.

What employers can see

When your profile is visible to employers, or when you apply to a job, the employer may see the information you have added to your profile. This typically includes:

  • your name and professional headline;
  • your current rank or shore position, and any rank or position you are seeking;
  • years of experience and a summary of sea service or work history;
  • certifications, licences and training you have recorded;
  • skills, languages and preferred vessel types or trading areas;
  • availability status and expected salary, if you have provided them;
  • nationality and current location, where you have chosen to share them.

You control each of these fields by adding, editing or removing information in your profile.

Supporting documents

Documents such as certificates, licences, medical records and sea-service documents are stored against your profile to support your applications. They are shared only within the recruitment process supported by the platform — either when your profile is visible and an employer views it, or when you submit an application.

CrewAhead does not make your uploaded documents publicly available or share them with unrelated third parties.

Visibility changes apply to future discoverability

Changing your visibility setting affects who can discover your profile from that point forward. It does not withdraw applications you have already submitted, and it does not remove information an employer has already viewed.

Updating or removing your information

You can update your profile, change your visibility setting, or remove information at any time:

  • Edit your seafarer or shore profile to add or remove information and to change the visibility toggle.
  • Visit Settings to request an export of your data or to delete your account.

Some records may still be retained for a limited period after account closure where required for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Our Privacy Policy explains retention in more detail.
